The Kings and Monaro highways and the Kosciusko Road will each receive an additional $10 million for upgrades expected to be carried over the next two years.
Improvements include extra overtaking lanes and safety works, such as road shoulder widening and wire rope barriers, better signage and pavement work.
Monaro MP John Barilaro said the planned upgrades recognised the importance of the three roads as vital regional links to the south coast, Kosciusko National Park and nearby ski fields.
"We can continue to make these roads safer not only for locals but for the tourists who visit this region," he said.
"People just want to get through the highway in those peak periods, safely and as quick as possible as long as they stick to the speed limit. We've got to continue to invest in this highway."
Labor party rival Steve Whan has promised $60 million over four years for the Kings Highway.
"The people of this region deserve better, Labor's guaranteed $60 million commitment over four years is affordable within the roads budget and it doesn't rely on selling off the people's electricity assets," he said.
However, Mr Barilaro shrugged it off.
"Steve Whan's commitment is an election commitment. Today's announcement is another $10 million in real funding budgeted in the budget. If you go back to our track record that's $62.5 million over four years that we've done in this term of government," he said.
"I'm quite happy to put my record of investment up against Steve."
NSW voters will head to the polls on March 28 and Mr Barilaro conceded it would be a tight contest for the seat.
"It's going to be a tough race," he said.
"I take nothing for granted. When I signed up for this four years ago I said I'll do to the best that I can with all my ability, integrity and honest ... I'm comfortable to be judged on what I've achieved so far."
