A white Subaru SUV veered from the road and plunged into the roadside bushland just after midday today.
While the female driver, the car’s only passenger, was unhurt in the accident, the long-term owner of the property she crashed into told The Queanbeyan Age that it was the second crash he’d witnessed at the site in 20 years.
"It’s remarkable she didn’t hit a telegraph pole and things could have been a lot worse. Fortunately the only damage was a bit of damaged fence and a few damaged trees," he said.
The owner cautioned local drivers that the Greenleigh road was a narrow one, and not to veer across the marked white lines.
“It’s not speed [that’s the issue], it’s the fact that people will not stay between the white lines and think the road’s all theirs,” the property owner said. “You can go quick and still be safe.”
Police attended the scene immediately after the accident, however left a short time afterward. The owner of the vehicle was unhurt in the crash.
