The annual festive event kicks off at Queanbeyan Town Park from 5pm and will include a number of local acts including barber shop quartet Shiraz, Sara Turner, country singers Alan Neal and Jerrabomberra's Ian Wholohan as well as dancers from Impressions Dance and Fitness and Fantastix from Jerrabomberra Public School.
Karabar High School will also be represented by band Forth Fret as well as student and newcomer to the carols, Sophie Hopkins.
"It's a real local community event so we try and keep it local. Everyone is local except for the Canberra Brass Band. It's difficult to find a brass band in Queanbeyan. There aren't many around," Mr White said.
"[The performers] may be good, bad or ugly but if they put their hand up, we'll put them up on stage," he added with a laugh.
This year's set list will be mix of Christmas classics and festive songs.
Local country singer Alan Neal will also be performing a countrified selection of Christmas songs, including John Denver's 'Christmas for Cowboys' and Rodney Crowell's 'The best years of our lives.'
"I don't usually sing too many carols; I usually sing country-style Christmas songs," he said.
"We'll leave the carolling to the choirs. But I try to keep it festive and Christmassy as well."
Mr White said he hoped locals would join them for the annual carols event.
"It's a real family day out so we encourage everyone to bring their family, some chairs and blanket on Sunday, December 21 and enjoy the carols," he said.
The Queanbeyan Carols in the Park will be held on Sunday, December 21 at Queanbeyan Town Park from 5pm. Santa is expected to arrive about 7.20pm. A coffee and ice cream van will be available onsite.
