A 28-year-old Queanbeyan man has been charged with leading police on a high-speed pursuit and being found in possession of a loaded pistol and drugs believed to be amphetamines.

Police say officers tried to stop the driver of a Nissan sedan on Burra Road about 11pm on Friday, but he accelerated away reaching speeds of up to 150km/h.
Police said they used a "tyre deflation device" but the driver kept driving along Burra Road into London Bridge Road before eventually losing control of the car.
After a short struggle, police arrested the driver and a 22-year-old passenger before finding a loaded pistol on the dashboard and 20 grams of drugs believed to be amphetamines.
The man was taken to the Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with an outstanding warrant, driving recklessly, driving while disqualified, supplying a prohibited drug, and possessing an unregistered firearm.
John Westaway, 28, was refused bail overnight, and appeared before the Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday afternoon.
Westaway did not apply for bail and his solicitor Nilusha Pajapakse told the court her client would not enter pleas and was still considering the facts in the case.
Magistrate Chris Bone formally refused bail and adjourned the case for two weeks.
Police are investigating the involvement of the 22-year-old passenger who was taken to the Queanbeyan Hospital with a minor head injury believed to have been sustained when the car left the road.
