Just a single point separated them from Tuggeranong, who took an intense 24-23 extra time win to go straight to the grand final, and Queanbeyan will now have to get past South Canberra in the preliminary final on Saturday afternoon.
Ross' side was missing Riley McDonald, who has a broken finger and will not return to the court for the rest of the year, and Mackayla Parish, who will return for the preliminary final.
Ross said despite last Saturday's loss her girls still had every right to win the game, and they would take a lot of confidence into the preliminary final.
"We should win against South Canberra this weekend even though they beat us last time, but we had some players out back then, and I'm confident we'll get the win," she said.
"All the girls were outstanding against Tuggeranong. I couldn't fault them, they were just unlucky."
The side last week became the first Queanbeyan ACT State League team to make the finals in 18 months, but will this week be the first in over two years to make a preliminary final.
