LOCAL police are appealing for the assistance of the public after a taxi driver was robbed at Queanbeyan last night.

Around 9pm last night (Monday, October 27), a 28-year-old taxi driver picked up a passenger from Bunda Street, Canberra and asked the driver to take him to Queanbeyan.
As the driver stopped the car near a tennis court in Campbell Street, the passenger left the taxi. The driver followed him and was approached by two other men.
The males threatened him and grabbed his arms. The three men returned to the taxi and stole cash before leaving on foot through a nearby park. The taxi driver was not injured during the incident, and reported the matter to police.
The passenger is described as being aged in his early to mid-twenties, is of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and a baseball hat.
The second man is also aged in his early to mid-twenties, Caucasian appearance, about 173cm tall with a medium build. He has short light brown hair. He was wearing light coloured shorts and T-shirt. The third man was not described.
