Hundreds of bees descended out of thin blue air onto a shopping trolley, forcing the store to close one exit to keep shoppers away from the swarm.
Local woman Michele Oakley was doing her grocery shop around 3.30pm that afternoon when she encountered the swarm, and quickly went home to grab her camera to photograph the buzzing bees.
"It was just incredible. People were just standing there staring at it. It's not a phenomenon you'd usually see," Ms Oakley said.
"They were all over the baby seat [on the trolley]. Some Queanbeyan baby must have spilt it's bottle or something and the bees have just descended on it."
And she suspected it was the queen bee who caused all the fuss in QueenBeean that afternoon
"They don't usually swarm like that unless the queen's there," she said.
