Police stopped 33-year-old Queanbeyan man for the RBT at around 2pm that afternoon and allege he possessed 0.91 grams of methamphetamine (ice), a jar with 83 grams of amphetamine paste, as well as drug paraphernalia including scales and a glass pipe.

One gram of ice has the street value of approximately $1000.

Bosma is yet to enter pleas to charges of possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, possess drug equipment and possess housebreaking implements. He was bailed at Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday and return to court to answer the charges on November 3.

Airport knife scare ends in fine

A MAN who attempted to carry a concealed knife onto a domestic flight was sentenced at Queanbeyan Local Court this week.

The court heard that Cowra man Jason Buckley was stopped at airport security at Sydney Domestic Airport in May after security staff scanned his belongings and noticed a small credit card-style extendable knife in his wallet.

The 32-year-old personal trainer was on his way to Perth with his fiance when the search occurred at 6.50am on Friday, May 2.

His solicitor, James Maher, told the court that the knife- which measured 8cm when extended- was a gift to the accused from a friend, and that his client had kept it in his wallet and forgotten about it.

"He never had malicious intent," the solicitor said. "He's learnt his lesson very significantly."

Magistrate Chris Bone dealt with the matter by way of a $300 fine. "There's no indication the defendant had it for a sinister purpose," the magistrate said.

Drunk driver gets 'stuck' in garden bed

A QUEANBEYAN driver has been caught behind the wheel with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.243, almost five times over the legal limit.

On Friday, October 17 at about 11.20pm, witnesses saw the 32-year-old woman having trouble reversing her Nissan Patrol in the Morriset Street car park.

The woman reversed too quickly, mounting a gutter and ending up stuck in a garden bed.

Police officers attended the scene and breath tested the woman. She was charged with driving with a high range pca and her licence was suspended on the spot.

She will appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on November 10.

19 drugged drivers caught in Qbn

QUEANBEYAN Police caught 19 drugged drivers in Queanbeyan over the weekend as part of a random drug testing operation.

Police said they tested 151 drivers for drugs, and 19 tested positive. Police also issued 35 infringements for various offences.

The weekend testing was part of a broader operation run elsewhere in NSW including Griffith and Port Stephens.

In total, police tested 413 people and discovered 48 of them had taken drugs before getting behind the wheel.

NSW Police assistant commissioner and Traffic & Highway Patrol commander John Hartley said random drug testing ensured people driving after using drugs were identified, prosecuted and taken off the road.

"Those that continue to run the risk of using drugs and then driving need to consider the consequences of either being prosecuted or involved in a serious crash," he said.

Arrests over car thefts

THREE people were arrested Saturday night by police patrolling the Jerrabomberra area after several incidents of property and money stolen from parked motor vehicles were reported.

Police stopped the 18-year-old male and two juveniles, and after a search the man was found to be in the possession of some stolen property including money and a knife.

The three were arrested and taken to the Queanbeyan Police Station where the adult male was charged with a number of offences including theft, possession of a knife in public, and possession of implements to enter a vehicle.

He has been granted conditional bail to appear at the Queanbeyan Local Court on December 1, while the two juveniles will be processed under the Young Offenders Act.

Those who had property stolen from a vehicle in the Jerrabomberra area on Saturday night should contact the Queanbeyan Police Station. The public is also encouraged not to leave valuables in vehicles.
