Each point of the eight-point star has been dedicated to an Australian state or territory.
To make things easier, the states have been signposted with a mosaic of its floral emblem and in keeping with the theme, plants native to the state are nearby. To top it off, there's two barbecues for community use.
Federation Garden was officially opened to the public on Wednesday, October 8.
It has been a long time in the making with Mayor Tim Overall revealing it was first conceptualised by the local Lions Club and the late Hope Marland. The project found new life under the leadership of councillor Trudy Taylor.
"The committee included the late Hope Marland who was a much-loved part of the Queanbeyan community," Cr Overall said. "The aim of the group was to have a garden developed to commemorate Federation and a place for families to gather and celebrate. What a wonderful place it has turned out to be."
The mosaics are a nice addition and were created with the help of community members under the watchful eye of artist Freya Jobbins.
Federation Garden is located at Waniassa Street, adjacent to the Sensory Gardens, and is now open to the public.
