It was a tough contest at the Binalong Recreation Ground north-west of Yass, with the Magpies winning 18-10 and moving through to the preliminary final of the competition.
But Tigers coach Dan Woodford was still proud of his men's efforts this season given they lost seven of their senior players to injury in the later rounds of the competition.
"Our goal was to make the top four, and anything else would have been a bonus, but we had quite a few injuries at the end of the year, and we were lucky to field 19 players," said Woodford.
Woodford had as many as 26 players to choose from at the start of the season, with the George Tooke Shield allowing 20 players per team per game (three more interchange players than normal rules), and unlimited interchanges.
He said given this, his side could easily have gone all the way to the grand final with a full strength squad.
"We had a broken jaw, an injured hamstring in the warm-up, and a front-rower got knocked out on the second tackle [against Yass], and we were down to four reserves, so the boys did well under the circumstances," said Woodford.
Skipper and former Queanbeyan Kangaroo Bryce Darmody played injured at the end of the competition, as well as former skipper Steve Death, but the side were still able to put points on their opposition.
They destroyed the Crookwell Green Devils 66-4 in the final round after taking out Boorowa, astonishingly, 74-6.
Former Queanbeyan Kangaroos reserve grade coach Mark Hogan booted up for Bungendore this season.
Woodford said the club hoped to bring back an under 18s team next season, and despite their injuries, is confident of keeping a strong George Tooke Shield squad next year.
