The actress bought it in 2005 for $US3.6 million with her then-partner, the late Heath Ledger.

Since then, the market in Brooklyn has skyrocketed and Williams has put her ivy-covered abode up for sale with an asking price of $US7.5 million, or roughly $8.6 million Australian.

If that sounds like a lot, the buyer will be getting a lot for their money.

The 1200-square-metre house has five stories (four above ground and one bellow), which contain a garage that fits three cars, six bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, a library, a media room and a wine cellar.

Williams has decided to put her luxurious home on the market to move to Los Angeles, according to the New York Post.

She was one of the first famous faces to move to Brooklyn's now-gentrified Boerum Hill, which is located near restaurants, boutique shops, parks and the train.

Following her split from Ledger and the actors subsequent death in 2008, Williams reportedly moved to a loft apartment in Red Hook, Brooklyn with her boyfriend at the time, How I Met Your Mother actor Jason Segal.
