Corey Adam Brown, 29, of Giralang was charged with aggravated break and enter, committing a serious indictable offence in company and driving while disqualified as a result of the incident.
Brown, a New Zealand native, appeared at Queanbeyan Local Court on Friday, September 26 and had his bail formally refused by Magistrate Chris Bone.
Police allege on the morning of Sunday, September 14, Brown along with his then girlfriend Kristiane Pang and Joe Daniel Rose, went to the rural property with the intention of stealing firearms and ammunition.
Rose, armed with a hammer, side cutters and serrated knife, threatened the elderly homeowners – a 76-year-old man and his 74-year-old wife - and demanded they give him the key to their gun safe.
Rose allegedly knocked the man unconscious during the confrontation and also made threats to the couple including that he would cut off their heads, according to court documents.
At one point, the elderly woman is said to have made a sandwich and offered a glass of water in attempt to placate the perpetrator.
Rose successfully made off with a .22 rifle and shotgun, ammunition and gun accessories from the property. He loaded the items into a wheelbarrow before he met up with Brown and Pang and they left the scene together.
NSW Police blocked off the area around the Bungendore Road property for some hours that day and launched a man hunt for the perpetrators.
On Thursday, September 23, Australian Federal Police officers searched the Casey home of co-accused Daniel Grech. They located a rifle, ammunition and accessories as well as the barrel of shotgun and the butt of a rifle that had been sawn from a firearm.
Grech was present during the search as was Pang. Both were arrested that day while there is still an outstanding warrant for Rose.
Brown is yet to enter pleas and will reappear in Queanbeyan Local Court on November 7.
