Round 13 - Queanbeyan Tigers junior results

QUEANBEYAN will host the Weston Creek Wildcats at Halloran Oval this Saturday in the side’s final match of the season.

Last weekend saw the Tigers put in one of their best performances of the year against the highly-regarded Calwell Swans.

There was no love lost between the two sides with Queanbeyan clearly having not forgotten a couple of incidents the last time the two sides met earlier this season.

The Tigers were led superbly by Jack Foster who put in his most complete display of the year. Stephan Ficovic, Brad Rauter, Leo Palombi and Sam Frost also led by example and stamped their class on the match.

Of particular note was also the performance of Jordan McGrath who lifted his game to another level with plenty of hard running and some quality evasive skills.

THE Tigers recorded a convincing 10.16 (76) to 1.6 (12) victory over the Eastlake Demons at Kingston Oval last weekend.

After an errant first quarter that saw Queanbeyan post 0.7 (7), the Tigers kicked into gear to take complete control of the match.

The second half saw the visitors run away with the contest kicking nine goals while keeping Eastlake goalless until the final term.

Connor Hogan and Christian Palombi led the way for the Tigers across half-back while Tyler Van Luin and Jordy Perkins were also outstanding in the Tigers backline.

After a wobbly start, Queanbeyan’s pressure eventually told as Lachlan Squire and Matthew McKenzie found their range in front of goal. Josiah Hall and Harrison Straker were also busy in midfield.

This week’s award winners were Oliver Glamcevski, Joe Page and Lachlan Squire.

THE Tigers were always going to be up against it last weekend taking on the undefeated Eastlake Demons at Hughes Oval.

In decidedly wintery conditions, the Tigers showed plenty of commitment with Ben Lee, Nicholas Brown and Noah Barrow strong around the ground against quality opposition.

The match saw the Tigers get off to a shaky start as inaccuracy in front of goal hurt the home side leaving Queanbeyan goalless at the first break.

That pattern continued in the second quarter before the Tigers managed to pull away following half-time to run out victors 8.13 (62) to 5.3 (33).

Queanbeyan’s goal kickers were Jarrod Callanan (2), James Kent (2), Nathan Bull, Lachlan Jordan, Mitch O’Toole and Brad Stevens.

The week’s award winners were Jay Ludwig, Kodi Stevens, James Kent and Alex Page.
