The Queanbeyan Blues rugby league club junior featured in a segment on Channel Nine's The Footy Show in June, and when asked what his first job was, spoke briefly about his time at Riverside Plaza.
This caught the Plaza management's attention, and they decided to create a miniature trolley trophy to present to the 30-year-old, who is one of Queanbeyan's best known sporting figures.
"When I was still at school and working down there, me and my mates used to try and have a record of who could push the most trolleys up the escalator," Mr Campese told The Queanbeyan Age.
"Just before I finished working there, they had a crackdown as to how many trolleys we were allowed to push at a time, but I managed 32 trolleys at once about 10 years ago."
Mr Campese worked as a trolley collector for around eight months when aged 16 while in high school and playing junior rugby league.
He said it was "good to get Queanbeyan a plug, especially on The Footy Show," and thanked Plaza management for recognising him.
"I think they were happy with their plug which is nice, and it's nice for both of us," he said.
