If they can overcome the Blues cross-town rival - the Queanbeyan Kangaroos at Seiffert Oval this Sunday, they’ll book the Canberra Raiders Cup grand-final date.

But Bulldogs captain/coach Mick Picker is not taking anything for granted. Despite the Roos going down a whooping 43 points to 10 to the Blues last weekend, he is cautious.

“You have to be cautious. You wouldn’t take them lightly at any stage yet alone now, it’ll be a tough match,” he said.

“They can certainly move the ball around, they have handy halves and their fullback is a handful too so when you have solid halves and a fullback you can expect the ball to be moved around pretty well.”

The Bulldogs have had two weeks to prepare for the match after defeating the West Belconnen Warriors 16-10 in the first round of the finals.

In this time Picker has been building his men up for the do-or-die clash. He says there is a feeling of excitement as most of the squad are new to finals football.

For the Kangaroos it’s a different story.

Coach Aaron Gorrell told the Post that for them to turn things around this Sunday there needs to be an attitude change.

“It was a pretty big wakeup call on the weekend, and bruised a few egos.

“Now we’ve hopefully fixed the rubbish we came up with on the weekend, and we’ll move on and concentrate on Goulburn”.

He says to stop the Bulldogs strike power; his Roos are going to have to slow down the ruck, a tactic that helped them earlier in the year.

“It doesn’t matter how much strike power you have, if you’re coming off slow play the balls all the time, on the back foot, it’s tough to get some momentum,” he said.

Kick off in the grand-final qualifier is at 3.30pm this Sunday at Queanbeyan’s Seiffert Oval.
