DESPITE being one of the local community groups embroiled in the Queanbeyan City Council rates debacle, HOME in Queanbeyan manager Anne Pratt has vowed to remain positive.

Instead, Ms Pratt said the organisation is choosing to focus on their biggest annual in-house fundraiser, the HOME movie night.
With less than a fortnight until the event, Ms Pratt said they've sold just over half the allocated 200 tickets.
"I do encourage people to come along [to the movie night] because HOME is proudly community-owned. So it's great if the community can come along and feel part of what we're doing," she said.
"It's very much a community affair. It's a bit of a celebration of what the community has done, it's because of the community that HOME in Queanbeyan is there."
The movie night, to be held on Friday, September 5, is the organisation's biggest fundraiser as they don't rely on government funding.
HOME is one of the local community groups to recently receive a hefty retrospective rates bill by the council. They are facing a bill of $23,000.
However, Ms Pratt said it wasn't a time to panic but rather stay positive. While she hopes people support the movie night, she said it's less about the financial assistance and more about coming together as a community.
"Every year we hope it's a success. Not just financially ... it's not all about money," she said.
"At the moment, we're waiting to hear what the outcome will be [on the backdated rates], as other people are. We're certainly not panicking, we're just waiting on a response from the council.
"Obviously, they have to go through a process where they have to meet with the minister. When any decisions are made, we'll meet with council whether it is Mayor Tim Overall or general manager, Gary Chapman."
In terms of the fundraiser, Ms Pratt said raffle tickets to a Katy Perry concert are still up for grabs.
Rather than running an auction like they have in previous years, the organisation is raffling off corporate box tickets to a Katy Perry concert with five-star accommodation included for four people.
The HOME in Queanbeyan movie night will include a screening of The Soloist and a presentation by keynote speaker, Olympic gold medallist, Petria Thomas.
