In his maiden year as coach, he could make history by leading the club to a perfect season.
But two men stand in his way, both of whom have been drilling the belief into their sides that they can spoil the party.
One of those men is Cooma coach Sean Neilson. He knows that when it comes to grand-finals – anything goes.
He also knows Poidevin like the back of his hand, having played for the Dirty Reds first grade side in 1998 and 99.
“I’m familiar with blokes up there and I’m still mates with a few blokes there,” he tells the Post.
“And yeah it would be nice if we caused an upset, but a grand-final win is what you play footy for.”
Neilson has in the back of his mind the 66-0 point loss the last time these two sides met in round late last month.
“Goulburn have been the bench mark all year. We know we’re going to have to be on our very best to get on top of them,” he said.
“Last time we played them there we were pretty poor in defence and we’ll have to be 100% better then last time to slow those guys down.
“It’s a difficult one because they’ve got strike power all over the park. As far as we’re concerned, we have to hold onto the ball as much as we can.
“When we don’t have the ball… well Goulburn’s forward pack is a lot heavier then ours, so we’ll have to do our best in defence and just make our tackles.”
Pat Gallagher is the man looking to lead the Hall Bushrangers to a reserve-grade grand-final.
“We know Goulburn is an excellent outfit, they’re strong,” he said.
“They’ve played really good football this year so for us to beat them this year we are going to need to try really hard and work on things we’ve been doing at training to make a contest out of it because it wont be easy on Saturday.”
The last two times Goulburn had won 5- 0 and 7-5.
It’s these results that give Gallagher some heart going into tomorrow big clash.
“Last time we led nearly all match and they came in and scored with a couple of minutes to go. It goes to show you need to be switched on for the full 80 minutes with them.”
