A COUPLE of baby black swans have made their winter debut by the peaceful shores of Lake Jerrabomberra this month.
Surrounded by the assured wealth and prestige of Jerra's lakeside mansions, this geeky, awkward pair are still finding their feet and are facing the world in patchy coats of fluffy grey down.
Black Swans breed during the winter months in Southern Australia. They pair for life, with both adults raising one brood per season. The chicks (cygnets) are able to swim and feed themselves as soon as they hatch.
