The win was the Reds first game back after a number of weeks off, and coach Darren Solomons said it showed.
“You could tell we’d just come back from some time off,” he said.
“Just little things, timing wasn’t quite there. Key performance indicators were just a fraction off.”
However this was the extent of it, as Goulburn dominated the game after a slow start.
“Defensively, I’m very happy,” Solomons said.
“Hall had this huge prop, he would have been 6 foot 5, 150kg and David Hook, Stan Williams and Jordan Wilcocks just absolutely destroyed him.
“They ran at him all day like a bull with a red flag.”
“It came to the point where their ball runners were looking to avoid these guys.”
Solomons said Hook had the best game he had seen him play, and commented on his “controlled aggression.”
Jordan Wilcocks was named players players. “He just goes and goes,” Solomons said.
Reserve grade had set the standard early in the day with a 42 to 5 thumping of the Hall reserves.
The match had looked to be a stale mate going into the second half, with the Reds trailing.
However the send off of Damien Jenkins for dissent to a referee sparked the Reds who piled on 42 points in 30 minutes.
The Reds take on Cooma this Saturday where the club will be promoting a ladies day.
