The NSW RSPCA has said recent reports of a dog locked up in the back of a utility in Queanbeyan for four days had been the result of "a misunderstanding."
Reports of an incident first appeared on Twitter yesterday afternoon. The story was then picked up by Canberra radio station 2CC and followed up by Queanbeyan Rangers and the RSPCA, who attended the residence.
However a spokeswoman from RSPCA NSW confirmed today that they would not be prosecuting the dog's owner for charges of animal cruelty.
"The dog was fine," the spokeswoman said. "There was nothing wrong with it. It was a misunderstanding."
