Deputy mayor Peter Bray has helped run the monthly Queanbeyan Charity Book Fair for a number of years now to help raise funds for a host of local charity groups.
And the book fair has just been offered a life-long book and record collection to sell at the fair, enough to fill a double garage and pour potentially thousands of dollars in sales into local charity groups.
However, storage is an issue for Mr Bray and he’s calling on the community to help out if they can.
“I’m looking for somewhere to store these, something that’s secure with a concrete floor so I can store the books and progressively get access to them so I can progressively reduce the store as we sell them each month,” he said.
Mr Bray said the collection would be a great boost to the charity if he could secure it.
“It’s wonderful, and it will be worth a lot of money to the community once we get through it. But we can’t digest that quantity in one book sale.
“I have to move quickly or I might lose the collection otherwise,” he said.
The monthly book fair is on again this Friday and Saturday at the RB Smith Centre in Crawford Street, from 5-8pm Friday and 10am-2pm Saturday.
