LYING with her stomach to the ground and camera pointed towards the Suspension Bridge, Queanbeyan's Heidi Flaherty must have looked an odd sight to members of the public.

However, the 29-year-old was simply trying to capture the perfect and eventually, winning, shot for the Queanbeyan Age's 'Colours of Autumn' Competition.
So serious was she about getting the money shot she even enlisted her husband Nathan to be on the lookout for any cyclists, dogs or passers-by who might accidently mow her down.
"It was quite a team effort," she said.
"We went on a Sunday afternoon. My husband and I both had some time off and he'd heard about the competition and really encouraged me to get it happening..."
After a few snaps with her Nikon D90 at local hot spots like the Queanbeyan Railway Station and the river bank, the couple ended up at the Suspension Bridge.
"I was looking for a shot that would showcase Queanbeyan and I've always really liked the Suspension Bridge and thought it was quite iconic. So I just had to find a great way to tie in the colours [of Autumn]," Mrs Flaherty said.
"It was an overcast afternoon so there was a really nice diffused light. We were just hoping the weather would hold up."
The Queanbeyan Age judges said Mrs Flaherty's image of autumn leaves scattered on the bridge fit the brief. It combined a great local landmark with the seasonal theme of the competition.
The contrast of colours as well as the good depth of field also highlighted Mrs Flaherty's technical and composition skills.
The Riverside Plaza marketing manager has won five nights accommodation for two people at the Bay of Palms Resort, Elanora on the Gold Coast.
"[My husband and I] are really looking forward to go away, it's something we didn't think we'd be able to do this year," Mrs Flaherty said.
"We'll definitely be taking some snaps while we're up there."
The Queanbeyan resident is a self-taught photographer and also has her own photography blog.
She has just finished a stint working as a photographer at Fashfest and said she would love to do more paid work.
"What I love about photography is that you have the challenge of capturing something that's so instant," she said.
"It's an outlet, something I do for me and something I can offer people."
