The ACT side started training at Dairy Farmers Oval on Wednesday night, and will train weekly before the first game on June 5.

Lani Watson, Hannah Dunn, Ella Ross, Meaghan Godrey, Carly Res, Tegan Tisma and Stephanie Ingall will each train in a squad of 30 players and try to crack the top 22 that will take the field in each fixture.

And even more impressively Ross and Godfrey are in their first seasons playing Australian Rules football, with just three games for the Tigerettes under their belts.

Watson said the the girls were looking forward to this year's Origin series before preparing for the next national championships next year.

"Even though it's freezing now we're keen to get out there an try to make the team," she said.

"Only two of the girls played in the Nationals last year so it would be good to have a few more representing the ACT."

Ross and Godrey are in their debut seasons and have shown plenty of capability with the Sherrin football in hand.

Tigerettes coach Robert Anderson said it was great for the Queanbyean Tigers club and women's AFL as a whole having so many talented female footballers get selected for representative duty.

"The numbers are very good this year, and we're getting a lot of new players and have had great committment from our girls," he said.

"As a Tigerettes side we've had very good results...and these girls have been selected in the rep squad which is great to see."

Dunn and Tisma both represented the ACT at the Nationals in Cairns last year, and have continued their stellar form into this season.

In the AFL Canberra Women's league the Tigerettes have firmed on the competition, losing round one 37-8 against Ainslie but returning 81-0 and 46-0 wins against ANU and ADFA/RMC respectively.
