The girls play their first game of 2014 on Friday night against 2013 champions Arawang at the Lyneham Netball and Hockey Centre and after 10 weeks of pre-season training, are looking at their first Division One championship.
It will be their second season in the competition after winning Division Two in 2012.
Queanbeyan captain Leanne McGrath is looking forward to a new personal challenge in 2014 in captaining the side for the first time, and said after an extended pre-season this year, the team was shaping better than last year.
"We finished fourth [out of six] last year so we're very keen on having a good year," she said.
The side lost three players at the end of last year through injuries and other life committments, but welcome six juniors into the side to join the experience of former captain Jenna Spears and shooter Chelsea Marlot.
McGrath said these players and a 10 week preseason should produce the life-blood needed to compete with what she said will be a fierce Arawang side on Friday.
"We've had to make sure that we work on all areas of our game just to make sure that we can compete against them," she said.
Round one action kicks off at 9pm.
