As well as taking a handy 17 wickets with the ball, the opener has piled on nearly 700 runs at an average of 59 including seven half centuries from just 13 knocks.
And he’s played no small part in leading the club’s all-conquering fifth grade outfit to a remarkable 13-game winning run.
But despite all that success, there remains one blemish on Jensen’s campaign that clearly stings.
Despite having reached the so-called ‘nervous nineties’ three times this season, Jensen has proven unable to crack triple figures.
It’s an unfortunate record that reached almost absurd proportions against Tuggeranong earlier this month
On 98, Jensen struck the ball for the two runs that would have brought him his maiden ton this season, only to see batting partner John Fern run out at the other end on the final ball of the innings.
“For the record I made it down my end,” Jensen laughed after being left stranded in sight of triple figures. I’ve been giving it to John every week since then.
“It’s good to get into the 90s but it’s obviously disappointing not to be able to go on from there, especially three times in a row,” he said. “But maybe next week, you never know.”
While a century would no doubt be a nice feather in the cap, Jensen can rest assured that his efforts have proved more than sufficient in helping to see Queanbeyan produce a dominant season to date.
The side is now within sight of a fourth straight grand final in the grade. And Queanbeyan will no doubt take plenty of motivation from its past two grand final appearances; both of which have ended in defeat.
“Absolutely [it’s been disappointing] that we haven’t been able to get across the line the past couple of years but we’re not going to get too far ahead of ourselves.
“I think this year the side’s a bit different. We’ve got a really good mix of younger kids and the older blokes as well so it’s a really well balanced team. I’d say it’s as good as, if not better than the last three years.”
