The man passed away at his home in Queanbeyan earlier this week. He had previously been released from hospital following the alleged attack on Cooma Street.
However, Queanbeyan Police say they can’t confirm any link between the man’s death and the earlier incident.
At about 6.30pm on Monday, December 20, the man was involved in an argument with a 20-year-old male at a service station on Lowe Street.
About 30 minutes later, the 20-year-old was driving along Cooma Road at Karabar when police say he spotted the 43-year-old again.
The two men argued for a second time before the driver allegedly performed a u-turn and struck the victim with his car.
The injured man was taken to hospital with a fractured leg but his injuries were not deemed life-threatening and he was later released.
“At this stage we are looking into the cause of this man’s death and as a matter of course are preparing a report for the coroner,” Queanbeyan Police Inspector Tony Hill said. “At this stage police cannot confirm any link to the earlier incident.”
Following the attack, the 20-year-old man was arrested and charged with using an offensive instrument (car) with intent to commit an indictable offence. He was bailed to appear before Queanbeyan Local Court on February 17.
