Bagley joins Cregan Independents

JOINING the race for council election is Monaro Street restaurateur Michael Bagley, who will run as part of Jamie Cregan’s Cregan Independent. Mr Bagley has owned and run Michael’s @ Walsh’s on Monaro Street for seven years and he said he understood the pressures facing business owners in Queanbeyan.

‘‘Getting the traffic off the main street will be vital for the future economic success of this town,’’ Mr Bagley said. ‘‘Jamie Cregan has identified traffic as a major concern to residents and businesses alike. Getting to work or making deliveries is a real problem in the mornings and to revitalise the CBD we must get the trucks and the bulk of the cars off that stretch of road.’’

Mr Bagley said council must ensure the plans for future ring roads were completed and the project was ‘‘shovel-ready’’ as quickly as possible. ‘‘This will be a great result for Queanbeyan,’’ he said. ‘‘We need to return a vibrant CBD back to the residents and shoppers.’’

Mr Cregan said, ‘‘we need to get the trucks out of our main street if Queanbeyan is going to reach its potential and our plans for CBD improvement can be realised for the maximum potential results.’’
