ACT State League 2, round 9
Who: Queanbeyan v Belconnen
Where: ACT Netball Centre
When: Tonight, 9pm
WHEN Queanbeyan met Canberra in round three of this year’s ACT State League 2 competition, Queanbeyan couldn’t even field a side to take the court.
Last Friday night, Queanbeyan put that result well and truly behind them with a 10-goal win over the ladder-leaders from across the border to move within sight of a finals berth.
The last-start victory means Queanbeyan can guarantee its finals spot with a win over Belconnen at the ACT Netball Centre tonight.
With two games remaining this season, Queanbeyan heads into tonight’s contest holding down fourth position on the ladder, three points clear of the fifth-placed Belconnen.
A win would see Queanbeyan move into an unassailable finals position and would see last year’s beaten preliminary-finalists pushing for a third-place finish.
‘‘I think we’re just hitting form at the right time,’’ said Queanbeyan coach Rena Spears in the wake of last week’s impressive victory.
