QUEANBEYAN Tigers defender Andrew Swan was forced to walk a long and lonely road while recovering from a serious knee injury last season.
But that persistence has paid off after the 19-year-old was selected as one of three Queanbeyan players in this year’s NSW/ACT under-21s side.
Swan will represent his state alongside Tigers teammates Steve Jolliffe and Ben Klemke against a combined Queensland and Northern Territory outfit on the Gold Coast tomorrow.
Swan’s selection marks the latest milestone in his successful return to the field. The former Tigers junior tore his posterior cruciate ligament and strained his anterior cruciate ligament in the same injury midway through last year, effectively ending his season.
‘‘Coming off the back of last year where I didn’t get many games, it’s pretty satisfying,’’ Swan said of his representative selection.
