Weather for Adelaide is partly cloudy with a shower or two. Has been one already this morning, but sun is shining now and covers are off. Team selection news coming shortly.
Plenty of support for the Aussies from impeccable sources ... ie. Warney!
Good luck to @MClarke23 & the rest of the Aust team today, play well boys. Keep up the aggression & in your face brand of cricket. #Ashes — Shane Warne (@warne888) December 4, 2013 null
Revamped Adelaide Oval looks a treat! Plenty of room for those feral Port Adelaide fans next AFL season, too! (Just kidding, guys).
Just minutes away from start here. National anthems stirred the patriotic juices. Australians wearing black armbands in tribute to Lucas North, brother of former Australian batsman Marcus North. Lucas was tragically killed in car accident last weekend.
Here we go! Chris Rogers on strike, Jimmy Anderson to bowl. Rogers plays the first one out to covers, deals with second and third comfortably. Short one hits Rogers on body, gets caught in back of his jumper! Leaves the fifth, defends the last. Maiden to start.
You're kidding! Shower hits Adelaide, and we're off after one over! Doesn't look too heavy, but players off for now, and covers on.
And covers coming off as quickly as they went on! Should be back underway within a few minutes.
Here's the toss. Clarke wins. As expected, Australia to bat on what's expected to be a great batting track. Aussies are going in with an unchanged line-up. For England, Ben Stokes will make his debut, batting at No. 6. Monty Panesar is also into the team.
Shane Warne says Australia should go the bully on England once again!null
