A 45-YEAR-OLD Queanbeyan man was trapped in his car for 45 minutes on Sunday after colliding with a ute carrying a fridge on Uriarra Road.
The man was driving a Holden Commodore on Uriarra Road just before midday when he failed to give way at the intersection with Frederick Street and collided with the second vehicle.
He was trapped in his car for 45 minutes before being freed and taken to Canberra Hospital with minor injuries. A passenger in the car was uninjured.
At the same time, a 50-year-old Jerrabomberra driver was involved in a separate crash just 500 metres away near the intersection with Ross Road.
Uriarra Road was closed for about two hours following the crashes.
Queanbeyan man assaults police
A QUEANBEYAN man arrested on an outstanding warrant has been charged with assaulting police while in custody.
The 22-year-old was arrested on Monaro Street on Tuesday morning after being identified by Queanbeyan Police as having matters outstanding relating to contravening an apprehended violence order and breaching bail.
He was also wanted by police over an outstanding warrant relating to an offence in Cooma on August 21.
After being taken to Queanbeyan Police Station, it is alleged the man then assaulted a police officer while being searched.
