TONY'S Queanbeyan Hairdressing Salon has been a part of the Queanbeyan community for almost 60 years now, and in the Tutalo family for three generations.
The original barber in the family was Michele, who migrated from Italy in 1950 and started work at the barber shop in Old Parliament House, where his clients included Sir Robert Menzies as well as other notable politicians.
His barbering expertise was passed onto his son Antonio Tutalo, who opened up Tony's Queanbeyan Hairdressing Salon.
And as soon as his son Jason Tutalo was old enough to work he was taught the techniques that had been passed down from his Grandfather. Jason has previously worked in the business with his brothers Anthony and David, but is now the sole owner of the salon, bringing over 26 years of experience to the role.
"There's a lot of history in this family, and a lot of Queanbeyan history as well," Jason Tutalo said.
Asked what made the Tutalos such a stalwart of local business, Jason said it came down to customer service.
"You do a good job, and people come back. It's word of mouth in Queanbeyan," he said.
The newest addition to the team at Tony's is Mark Fletcher. Mark and Jason have a long history together they started out at CIT as young apprentices.
Mark was previously working at Roger David Hair Salon in Woden. His experience is also in classic and modern styles including; tribal, fades and hair tattooing.
