THE Queanbeyan Tigers will have three sides in action in Saturday’s junior grand finals with the club’s under-13s, under-14s and under-15s set to step up on the season’s biggest stage.
The Tigers under-13s will meet Ainslie Black at Football Park at 1pm while the under-14s will also take on Ainslie at Ainslie Oval from 9am.
Also at Ainslie Oval will see Queanbeyan take on the Gungahlin Jets in the under-15s decider at 12.50pm.
While the under-14s and under-15s qualified directly for their respective grand finals a fortnight ago, the under-13s were made to do it the hard way after finishing the regular season in third on the ladder.
And after a semi-final win over Gungahlin, Queanbeyan upset minor premiers Eastlake last Saturday at Reid Oval.
Jasper Barnett proved the key for the Tigers, kicking four goals in the comfortable 7.7 (49) to 3.5 (23) victory.
The Tigers had lost their past two games against the Demons but stood up when it mattered most as two goals to Barnett saw Queanbeyan take a 2.1 (13) to 0 lead into the first break.
Hayden Hunter and Hayden Bradley continued to create opportunities for the Tigers as did Kurt Flanagan and Alex Cheffers.
Campbell McFadyen, Liam Shakespeare also stood up for the Tigers while Jordan Gay, Tom McNamara and Trent Buchanan joined Barnett on the goal scorer’s list.
