Bungendore face Bulls
A SPOT in the Canberra Raiders Cup under-18s second division grand final will be on the line when the Bungendore Tigers face the Gungahlin Bulls at Seiffert Oval this weekend.
Bungendore progressed to Saturday’s elimination final with a 40-20 victory over the Tuggeranong Bushrangers in last weekend’s minor semi-final.
Mitch Perkins and Ben Darmody both scored doubles for the Tigers who are looking to defend their under-18s title.
The winner of Saturday’s clash will square off against the Queanbeyan Kangaroos in the decider.
Under-18s aim up for final
THE Queanbeyan Blues will definitely be represented on Canberra Raiders Cup grand final day.
The only question remains whether the Blues will be in a position to repeat their 2000 sweep of all three grades after the club’s under-18s fell to Woden in last week.
Along with the club’s first grade outfit, the Blues reserve grade side earned direct passage to grand final day with a 52-10 demolition of Tuggeranong last weekend.
The Blues under-18s however, have been forced into a do-or-die showdown with the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs after going down to Woden 40-6 in last weekend’s major semi-final.
Kangaroos reserves on song
THE Queanbeyan Kangaroos will take on the Tuggeranong Bushrangers in Saturday’s Canberra Raiders Cup reserve grade preliminary-final.
The Kangaroos will be able to take plenty of confidence into the sudden-death contest after dispatching the Woden Valley Rams 66-0 in last weekend’s minor semi-final
Ryan Tuckwell scored three tries in the demolition job while Corey Fitzgibbon bagged a double.
Tigerettes to take on Murrumbidgee
THE Queanbeyan Tigerettes will meet Murrumbidgee in this weekend’s AFL Canberra Women’s League second division semi-finals at Reid Oval.
The Tigerettes will head into the finals series unbeaten against second division opposition this season.
Queanbeyan has also accounted for Murrumbidgee all three times to two sides have faced each other this year, most recently with a comfortable 9.4 (58) to 3.1 (19) victory in round 13.
