THE Queanbeyan Tigers Black and Gold under-8s travelled to Stirling to take on the Wildcats Yellow and Blues teams under lights last Friday night.
While some parents might have been keen to see Carlton play, they soon realised the under-8s’ exciting brand of fast running football, spectacular marks and pack-clearing hand passes were the best tickets in town.
The week’s award winners where Thomas Imrie, Koby Gibbs, Lachlan Gisik and Logan Braun.
Under-11s Black
THE Tigers under-11s Black posted a comfortable 62-23 victory over Eastlake Black in round six.
Deekon Parsons, Emerson Jolliffe, Harrison Doherty, Pat McGrath and Krew Hitchcock worked hard in defence alongside Gerry Dwyer whose tackling was rock solid.
The second term saw Connor Williams, Huon Shin-Rees, Sam Frost and Brad Rauter put on a mid-field exhibition. They worked the ball forward well for the likes of Brad Millynn, Tryon Williams and Jack Armstrong to capitalize in the forward line.
Queanbeyan continued the good work after the main break as Liam McAlister, Jordan McGrath and Dysonne Stewart caused havoc across the park.
Under-11s Gold
THE Tigers under-11s Gold also ran out convincing winners in round six, accounting for Eastlake Red 9.9 (63) to 2.1 (13) at Mawson.
Strong play from Jacob Steen, Lachlan Silsby and Rory Gibbs created havoc up front for the Tigers early while Josh Ryder was strong on the mark. Leo Tuckfield showed his skills on the ground in the backline.
The second term saw Jack Reed and Oliver Williams dominate on the wings and Stephan Ficovic secure plenty of possessions through the centre.
Up forward, James Clements used his height well while Dean Shea worked his way into the game on the forward flank.
Riley Thompson was impressive after moving into the ruck as Chris Page and Kaleb Downes produced their best games of the season. Leo Palombi also continued to display his skillful passing game.
Qbn goalkickers: Jacob Steen 3, Rory Gibbs 3, Riley Thompson, Jarrod Barker and Oliver Williams. Award winners: Lachlan Silsby and Jarrod Barker.
Under-12s
THE Tigers under-12s proved unable to overcome a well-drilled Eastlake outfit last weekend.
Harrison Miller, Lexie Silsby, Spencer Hoadley, Hugh Clark and Jack Heslop were solid in defence for Queanbeyan while Brad Pender and Nathan Corbett controlled the centre clearences.
The second term saw Harry Grant, Duane Bush and Lachlan Dean with plenty of run through the midfield.
Some restructuring after the main break had an immediate effect as forwards Charlie Duncan, Clancy Anderson and Noah Chacos peppered the goal squad.
Angus Knox was good off the halfback line while Harry Smith worked effectively in the centre.
Jack Ross began the final term with a superb hip and shoulder that set the stage for Queanbeyan’s determined finish to the match.
Award winners were Hugh Clark, Harry Smith, Noah Chacos and Charlie Duncan.
Under-14s
THIS Saturday will see the Tigers under-14s take on Gungahlin at Town Park.
Last weekend saw Queanbeyan go down to Tuggeranong in a match dominated by both side’s defensive ends.
With both midfields struggling in windy conditions, Connor Hogan, Aidan Bowyer and Lachlan Squire toiled hard for the Tigers.
In defence, Christian Palombi, Tyler Van Luin and Scott Kyle combined well while Gryhon Davidson and Zane Fajri were strong in the air.
Elliot Young and Joe Page also performed well, as did the tireless Jordy Perkins.
Under-15s
A FIVE-GOAL haul to Darius Marsh helped the Queanbeyan Tigers under-15s to a big 23.11 (149) to 0.6 (6) win over Marist last weekend.
It was an impressive victory for the Tigers who went into the clash in fifth-spot on the ladder, one spot behind the fourth-placed Marist.
Queanbeyan also went into the match on the back of two consecutive 10-goal defeats.
