FORMER Queanbeyan Kangaroos playing-coach Adam Taylor will be wearing blue next season after switching to rival Queanbeyan club, the Blues.
Taylor put pen to paper last Saturday at Blues' coach Neil Bijorac's home to make the move official after waiting for a clearance from the Kangaroos.
The 29-year-old said his Leg 1move was motivated by his desire to win a premiership.
``It's always been a dream of mine and I guess as I get older I realised that my chances were running out, I just needed a change'' Taylor said.
``Of course I could have egg on my face next year if the [Kangaroos] win the flag but I felt I had to take a chance.''
Taylor said he understood why the move would be unpopular with some players and supporters of the Kangaroos faithful after donning the maroon colours for the past seven years, but said playing for the Blues had always been on the cards.
``I always wanted to come to the Blues...I even had a few training sessions with them seven years back but I got talked out of it,'' he said.
``I was living with a few [Kangaroos] boys at the time, and I think at that point I would have been a pretty unpopular bloke in the house if I played for the Blues.''
The player-coach of the Kangaroos 2009 season believed he could add leadership skills to a forward pack that would be without former Blues player Phil Stonham who moved to Goulburn two weeks ago.
``He's been a fantastic player for the Blues for many years, he's left some big shoes to fill,'' Taylor said.
``If I can be half as good as him I'll be happy with that.''
Blues coach Neil Bijorac said he was stoked to have another quality forward join the squad.
