THE semi-final of the minor pairs went right down to the wire on the weekend with Bette McDonald and Dorothy Lynch finally taking it out by one shot in an extra end.
Mandy Stitt and May Burgess led the whole way, but dropped five shots on the final end to send the match into overtime.
The major singles also produced some excellent matches with with Bette McDonald narrowly edging out Margaret Bacchetto.
Chris Cave and Lorraine Murphy's game forced an extra end with Cave Leg 1coming out on top, and she backed up on Sunday to beat Sandra Warren.
Youngsters Paige Dowsett and Sabrina George beat their opponents, while Mandy Stitt played well but couldn't match Maggie Johnston.
Clare McTernan beat Marie Jenkins on Saturday, but went down to Margaret Davies in Sunday's match. Coral McMurray was the weekend's other winner.
All quarter-finals of the major singles will be played this Saturday.
Both Queanbeyan pennant teams recorded wins this week in the final round of competition.
The No 1s beat Tuggeranong to finish in third place, while the No 3s were too good for Belconnen. Pennant play now turns to the night competition which will start next week.
Try Bowls began on Tuesday night with two greens being used to cater for the amount of bowlers. There is still room for any extra people next Tuesday at 5.00pm.
The club will host a Cup Day mixed bowls luncheon on Tuesday, and names must be in by 9.15am.
