For the first time in its 75-year history, Queanbeyan Bowls Club has won seven out of seven grades during Saturday's round three of ACT pennant fixtures.

The achievement left club coordinator Dave Newham lost for words.
“I got back to our Queanbeyan club on Saturday night and there were older bowlers who could not recall something like this happening,” he said.
“Everyone knew the significance of our performance there was plenty of backslapping going on.”
Newham is hoping the club capitalises on this success when the finals roll around on March 28.
“Last year we managed to get six out of our seven grades into the finals which was a great effort,” he said.
“This year we're hoping for seven out of seven.
“It's a pleasing period for us seeing our club is known as the struggling club in the ACT we can't attract the bowlers who opt to go to the bigger clubs in the region.
“But you can always rely on our core bowlers to hold their own.”
One of these bowlers is Robbie Chesher.
Chesher is part of Queanbeyan's so far undefeated Division One outfit and has won a fours national title in 2004 as well as state championships in pairs and triples. Chesher said the mood at the club was conducive to success.
“The club is in the best shape ever,” he said.
“There's always a good atmosphere and the fact we have keen competitors that come over to play from cricket and football only helps.”
