TWO one-day games of women's cricket between Australia and India at Manuka Oval on Sunday means there is a general bye this weekend in the ladies' competition.
The week off comes after mixed results for Queanbeyan last weekend against Wests and Tuggeranong in the Twenty20 competition.
Queanbeyan started strongly with a commanding 57-run win over Wests at Phillip Oval but were beaten by Tuggeranong in the afternoon at Mawson.
Coach Peter Baker said it was an up and down weekend.
``The Tuggeranong performance obviously wasn't as good but it should be taken in the context that we are treating the Twenty20 games as practice games and trying to give everyone a go,'' Baker said.
``We are a very young team and most of our players are in their first season of senior cricket and there is no doubt that this new group has improved since the season started and will continue to improve.''
Tuggeranong has been an a powerhouse in ACT women's cricket for a number of seasons, but Baker expected to match them in their 40-over game later in the season.
The coach said he took a lot out of Sunday's win over Wests.
``It was a solid performance with the bat. Em Preston again was the standout but Jodie Knight was impressive with 30 runs off 30 balls and it was pleasing to see Erin Parkinson gaining in confidence and score some runs,'' Baker said.
``Our bowling was solid, Morgan Wallace is gaining in confidence as is Sina Leis, but we do need to look at taking more wickets.''
