Cricket's hair raising scheme

14 Nov, 2008 11:29 AM
THE Queanbeyan Cricket Club has jumped on the Movember bandwagon with several players growing a moustache throughout November to raise money for men's health issues. Movember Captain Raglan Maddox said there was already plenty of ridiculous facial hair starting to appear at cricket training.

``A few of the boys are giving it a go, the Skipper of second grade, Dean Mansfield, Sneaky Pete [Coleborne], Con [Danassis], Scotty Henry, John Dean, myself and Michael Noble's having a stab as well,'' Maddox said.

``I've gone the rock star look, Deano's gone the mythbusters look, Sneaky Pete's gone the handlebars so has John Dean and Michael Noble's gone the bald look, he's just got nothing.''

Maddox said he hoped the club raised plenty of money for the worthy cause.

``It's to raise awareness for mental health and it's a good chance for the club to give something back to the community which has given so much to us.''
