Red and white flags fly high for Canada Day celebrations

03 Jul, 2009 10:51 AM
ST GREGORY'S Primary School was a sea of red and white when the students transformed their playground into Canada for a day. For the past six weeks the students have walked the distance it takes to get from Canberra to Ottowa around their school oval. Canadian exchange teacher, Dori Antolin planned the `Capital to Capital' walk to not only get the students out and about, but to also teach them more about her home country.

``The students have walked a total of 16,331 km over the past weeks. The enthusiasm shown has been amazing,'' she said.

``I'm so proud of each and every one of them.''

The colourful day embraced the Canadian spirit with the students wearing their best red and white attire while taking part in a teacher versus student hockey game.

Mrs Antolin and her children Louisa and Tomas have exchanged places with another teacher from St. Gregory's who is currently working at Mrs Antolin's school in Toronto.
