Man to face court after stabbing

A 26-YEAR-OLD man will face court later today after an alleged stabbing on Waratah Street.

Police were called to the Queanbeyan home about 8.30pm on Tuesday night following reports of an assault.

They will allege a 56-year-old man was involved in an argument with another man at the address.

During the argument the 56-year-old suffered several stab wounds and was taken to Canberra Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police arrested a 26-year-old man at the scene.

He was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station and charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and breaching an apprehended violence order (AVO).

He was refused bail and will face Queanbeyan Local Court today.
