THE Jerrabomberra Residents Association is concerned a decrease in customer service at Woolworths could force members of the community to shop elsewhere, causing an unsustainable drop in patronage to local businesses.
Located in the Jerrabomberra Village shopping centre, the supermarket chain acts as a centre of gravity for customer activity which allows small business to thrive in the area.
However vice-president of the JRA Brian Brown said a number of issues with Woolworths had surfaced which could force customers to shop elsewhere.
``The JRA approached Woolworths with a few concerns such as the disappointing service at certain times, the quality of the groceries and the disappearance of a number of brand name items from the shelves,'' he said.
``We've spoken to [Woolworths] regional manager Anthony Dalgleish and he's taken some of our suggestions on board which is promising. He acknowledged he was aware of some of the problems already and that steps had already been put in place to rectify them.''
Mr Dalgleish will meet with the JRA and concerned Jerrabomberra citizens at its next community gathering on Wednesday, June 17 to discuss the issue.
