Bradley Pensch, 31, faced Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to the offence that occurred along Stornaway Avenue.
The court was told that Pensch had a long history of offences over five years ago but he had only committed one offence since. It was added that his record reflected on Pensch's age and maturity at the time and he had since completed the MERIT program.
Magistrate Brian Van Zuylen said that Pensch had a dreadful record that led to a cumulated disqualification until 2030.
“For the rest of your working life, you cannot drive at all,” he said.
Magistrate Van Zuylen added that Queanbeyan was a small town and the police knew he was disqualified and would keep a lookout for him.
“The court is quite prepared to send you to prison if you get caught again,” he said. Pensch was ordered to serve 80 hours community service as a direct alternative to prison.
He was also disqualified for a further two years and ordered to pay court costs.
“Don't drive again,” Magistrate Van Zuylen said.
“Don't take the risk - it's simply not worth it.”
