Dialysis treatment for Qbn

19 Jun, 2009 03:19 PM
DIALYSIS services promised for Queanbeyan Hospital are set to become a reality with $700,000 set aside for the treatment in the 2009/10 state budget.

On Tuesday Member for Monaro Steve Whan said he was particularly pleased to see the funding for renal dialysis services for Queanbeyan.

With a decision to create more room for surgery in Queanbeyan Hospital, the services will now need to go into one of the old buildings external to the hospital. A tender process must be entered into before construction on the external building can begin in order to prepare a suitable facility to house the dialysis services.

It is believed that provided the construction phase runs smoothly, renal dialysis services will be available in Queanbeyan by March 2010. Until then the flow of patients requiring treatment from Queanbeyan and Jerrabomberra across the border will continue.
